Helsingin Saksofoniorkesteri ry:n 10-vuotis juhlakonsertti at Vuotalo
The Helsinki Association of Saxophone Orchestras will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a festive concert. Big Band Gramophone, playing in the first half of the concert, focuses on the golden era of swing. Its repertoire includes classics by stars such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Benny Goodman. The Helsinki Saxophone Orchestra will take to the stage during the second half of the concert. This is a twenty-strong full-blown saxophone orchestra that plays classical orchestral pieces. The wide-ranging programme includes music by a variety of composers, from Brahms to Sibelius. At the after-party for the concert in Café Pokkari, Cuernos Rojos, a seamless symbiosis of four saxophonists and a drummer, will play an incredibly flexible range of music from Dizzy Gillespie and Nirvana to Michael Jackson.
